Durham Publisher Exposes Urban Males to a Different Corner

The Corner Magazine is a monthly teen multicultural male-targeted online publication featuring entertainment and fashion, education, and empowerment news.
A mission to educate and empower a multicultural generation of teen-aged males is foundation for The Corner Magazine, a Durham, North Carolina based online publication.
The Corner celebrated its official launch this past November. The name, “The Corner” is a demarcation from the proverbial street corners that have long been a magnet for urban youth – where drugs, gangs and other superfluous activities plague our young people. This corner is a hang out spot for young males, but one that encourages the positive side of the human spirit – where education, accountability and discipline are elements of being part of its circle.
Edwin Timberlake, know to many in his circle as “Tim” is the magazine’s President and Co-Founder. At first glance, he’s a large 6-foot-7 defensive tackle-type, who is unassumingly quiet. He speaks from the heart, topped-off with a gentle smile. “There’s this one kid who has been driving all the way from Knightdale to Durham to be part of our journey,” said Timberlake. “By exposing him to the ins-and-outs of publishing, he now wants to be a professional photographer; this might seem small to some, but for me we’ve positively impacted a life.”
